Fall 2006, U10 Girls
Spring 2008 Games Started April 5th!
We hope you had a great winter!
PRACTICE:
Players do not have to wear their uniform to practice.  Wear comfortable clothes,
appropriate for the weather, just like what they wear for gym outside.  Players should
always bring a
water bottle, wear shinguards and bring their ball if the coach doesn't keep
them.  Be sure to arrive on time and be there to pick your child up 5 minutes early, just
in case the coach has any instructions for parents.
GAMES:
In warmer weather the uniform consists of black shorts, jersey, black socks, cleats and
shinguards (no shinguards means child can not play).  For cooler weather, wearing a
black or white shirt underneath the jersey is fine.  Gloves, hats and black sweatpants
can also be worn.  Be sure to bring a water bottle and arrive early!
LET'S DEMONSTRATE GOOD SPORTMANSHIP!
ESC stresses good sportsmanship and a positive playing environment for all its players.
Soccer is a team sport and an exciting, fun one that can be enjoyed by all.  Negative
comments, whether made to the referee, coach or players are not tolerated and take
away from the enjoyment the game exudes.   If a player makes a mistake, that mistake
becomes a learning experience, not an opportunity for criticism or ridicule from the
sidelines.  His/her coach will correct the player as needed.
Remember, the players all
want to make their family and friends proud of their hard work.
Our referees are valuable to the club, without them, no games could be played. They too
make mistakes, or see events from a different view- a call in the other teams favor may
be made for your team next time.
Many times shouting at the ref is the result of not
knowing the rules of the game
.  If you have a question on a call, don’t interrupt the flow of
the game, wait until after the game to politely ask the referee why a call was made.
Many of our referees are teenagers who love the game and want to do more for
it- harassing a teenager is inappropriate and not permitted by ESC.
All of our coaches are volunteers.  Many years these volunteers are in short supply, so
being supportive of them is essential.  Every coach wants their team to win and teaches
them the skills that they believe will help them.  In their coaches training, they are taught
these skills, but most importantly they are taught that having
FUN is the main reason for
playing soccer.
Let's all work together to create a fun, safe environment where a child
feels confident trying a new skill!  A child who is having fun, plays better
and wants to play more!

Make sure
SHINGUARDS are the
right size for your
player!  Shinguards
that are too small
don't protect well.
Also, shinguards
need to be worn
under socks for
safety!
